Another great day. Perhaps a bit more ups and downs. We got out of Prineville early, sought out coffee in Redmond, and made our way to route 242, the McKenzie highway.

MT. Washington as seen from McKenzie Highway

An absolutely fantastic ride up thousands of feet through burned forest to views over volcanic rock to Mt. Washington then down the west side teeming with life.

We then worked our way to the coast, which was completely socked in with fog. Cold, wet, windy, and opaque. A very silly brewpub as well.

We made our way to McMinnville and stayed at a great hotel and had steaks at the Blue Moon bar. Both the hotel and the bar had a David Lynch quality—stepping into a whisky soaked past filled with clues that don’t add up—sort of doubled over because I thought I had stayed here before but couldn’t recognize a single thing.

The hotel I stayed in was the same chain, forty minutes north.
