Back in Kooskia
Main Street, Kooskia We’re back in Kooskia. About 120 miles from James’ house. Beginning to reflect on this part of the trip. I have 900 miles still ahead of me. Yellowstone tomorrow. Promise a long post tonight.
Final Photo for Tonight
A great steak dinner at Brunswick Bar & Grill.
Comfort Inn, Othello Washington.
Aside from the prosaic name, this place is grim. It had cooled down to 97 when we got here. The last 100 miles were tough. Going to look for Tacos.
To the Pacific
Another great day. Perhaps a bit more ups and downs. We got out of Prineville early, sought out coffee in Redmond, and made our way to route 242, the McKenzie highway. MT. Washington as seen from McKenzie Highway An absolutely fantastic ride up thousands of feet through burned forest to views over volcanic rock to …
The Pump Cafe, Springfield, OR
Nice old gas station diner Most beautiful road I’ve been on in a long time is 242 out of Sisters. Now grappling through Eugene. Hopefully lunch is good.

Sounds interesting, but the vibe …
Austin’s Cafe and Gas
Route 7 out of Bake City, about 20 or so miles from John Day is a little cafe called Austin’s. Great Peanut Butter & Jelly pie. And great coffee
Baker City, OR
York’s in Baker City Another place I haven’t been in quite a few years. An old tyme emporium of hardware, hunting ware & food. Actually playing “Funky Cold Medina.” We’ve met a few weirdos this trip, and not of the lovable Gene Wilder/Marty Feldman-type. Still processing it. Will report. Onwards,
Cambridge, ID
Cambridge, ID A great day. We took 12 from Lolo, MT, to Kooskia, ID, and then 95. It was stunning the whole way. Lolo Pass is one of the greatest roads I’ve been on. Idaho was absolutely beautiful through Hell Canyon. We found a motel in Cambridge and a great pizza dinner. Leaving Lolo Kooskia, …
