I went straight up I-25.
After Casper, WY, I-25 is beautiful. In Colorado it’s brutal. Cops. Fast moving traffic that comes to a halt in moment’s notice. Accidents. More cops.

After I-25, I hit I-90 north through the Crow Nation and then west right to here, to the Locomotive Inn in Laurel, Montana. 550 miles.
The plan is to get to James and Adela’s house in Lolo, Montana, tomorrow and then to relax and head west with James for four or five nights. I should be back in Boulder by the 11th.
Last year’s trip was all about connection to my past. Was I still a motorcyclist, did that connection still exist? I found it did exist, strongly.
This year’s trip is shorter and maybe more to the point. It’s a clearing of the head. I turned sixty last week, and I’ve spent all May and June really thinking about where I’m headed professionally and creatively. It’s been a great eight weeks but the last of it felt stressful. It is time to clear the head.
I’m glad you’re along for the ride.
Onwards!

If you decide to go on to Oregon, would love to host you in Corvallis! Carla Ho’a
