The Horses Headed to Market

To state the obvious, I have been out of the saddle since the pandemic began.  One chilly and wet ride out to LA last October—a story that didn’t get written up—and bunch of car trips, but otherwise, I went into hibernation.

I ended up gaining some weight and losing my mojo.

Tomorrow is the last day of classes, and it’s time to change things up.

Harley recently came out with a bike meant for fast touring. A big motor in a tight chassis with saddle bags and a solid fairing.

In loading bikes, there is many a slip between the cup and the lip

I called a close friend who runs a big shop in Salt Lake City and had a line on one. We decided to haul my two bikes out and make a trade.

So here’s the plan: pack up tonight and teach tomorrow.

Pick up a bike he wants out here in Colorado on Friday, and get to Salt Lake City Friday night. We’ll ditch the U-Haul, hang out on Saturday, and I’ll motor back on the new bike on Sunday or Monday.

Hopefully, on the way back, my saddlebags will be filled with mojo.

To be continued….
